Kaduna: El-Rufai insists on the sack of 22,000 teachers.

The Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai says that despit threats from the Kaduna state chapter of the Nigeria Union Of teachers (NUT), the 22,000 teachers who recently failed in a competency test in questions meant for primary four pupils; must be sacked and replaced by 25,000 new ones.

The NUT, Kaduna State chapter had threatened that its members will go on strike if the 22,000 teachers are sacked, but, in a network radio interview in Kaduna yesterday, the Governor said that rather than threaten to strike, the NUT should be embarrassed by the incompetence of its members.

The governor further stated that the Kaduna State Executive Council has approved the recruitment of 25,000 primary school teaches and that recruitment notices have already  been advertised by the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board.
