Conversations with God about menopause

 Maureen Mennor Nwaezeigwe

When I wrote on menopause part 2 five days ago, I hinted that I would have conversations with God, my Father about menopause. Well, I did. He made me realize if there is provision in His word to give me what I desired on that issue I can use it. So quickly I scrolled through His words in my head, thinking if I could not remember any at that moment , then I must take time to search the Bible and see if I could find any promise there with which I could handle MENOPAUSE. Ladies, this is war. If menopause came jejeli ( peacefully) I would not have bothered about it, but mhennnn I do not like the way it is making me feel; therefore I gasto to do something abourr it...God helping me.

So, I quickly scanned in my head and Psalm 92 hit me!! have you read it? start from verse 10-15. I quickly brought out my bible and looked at that psalm again and it checked. I could stand upon that and reject the annoying effects of this thing. I have prayed and I believe. I invite you to pray it too...if you wish.

Just in case you are wondering that since menopause is a natural phenomenon, it cannot be helped, please know that the God I serve has suspended nature before. Why? because He can. Why? because the need arose for it? why? because He honours His words and follows patterns which He has laid if well presented to Him...even for our personal benefits.

Lets go from general events to personal events shall we?

1. The suspension of the sun in Joshua   10:12 "On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

Did God listen to the man Joshua and suspend the sun(nature) you bet He did as captured in verse 13

"So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Joshua. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.''

Cambridge researchers announced few years ago that they have pinpointed the date of the biblical account of Joshua stopping the sun, they say it is the day the oldest eclipse ever recorded-October 30, 1207 BCE exactly 3,224 years as at the time they made their announcement. it is published in the " Royal Astronomical society journal Astronomy & Geophysics"

 NOTE:

-Nature was suspended when the virgin Mary conceived  a Son and bore the Savour of the world and Son of God Jesus Christ.

-Nature was suspended when Sarah at the age of 90 conceived, carried and bore Isaac

-Nature was suspended when Elizabeth who was said to be past the age of giving birth conceived and bore John the Baptist, When her husband doubted the angel that brought the message of the miraculous conception, he was made dumb until the baby was born

- Nature was suspended all the times that God parted the oceans.

-Nature was suspended when a raven brought meat to feed Elijah.

-Recently I came upon the testimonies of Mildred Kingsley Okonkwo whom doctors had told could never have children, but she trusted God in prayers and eight years into her marriage conceived and bore three children...male and female!

so many things God has done in the past and even in the present to show that nature can be suspended when the need arises. It is up to you to believe that He can and then align to His word.

Joshua! that man.  I have to go and read up on that man again. I like the way he believed and trusted their GOD. They had never seen the sun suspended before...it had never been done, yet he believed, just as he and Caleb believed that their God could give them victory regarding the land of Canaan, a fortified city of strong people, that even had giants.

God can make anything possible if we cooperate with Him. He has given us free will on things, but there are things He pulls our ears to get us to align. Jonah had a tour of the belly of a fish and then he aligned, even though he was not in agreement with what God had asked him to do. Joseph wanted to put Mary away, but God in a dream advised him not to. Some people say God does not tell you who to marry, but I say He leads us IF we allow HIM, could Joseph have said no? do the math. Abraham's servant asked Him for help to choose a wife for Isaac and He obliged. Some people say that since Adam told God that it was the woman He gave him that gave him the forbidden fruit, God has decided that whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing...whosoever, meaning He has washed His hands off that area of our life. But the Joseph and Abraham's servant stories make me think differently, also Psalm 32:8 " I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you".

So on this menopause matter I choose to believe God. Will you? Just like Joshua and Caleb it is about believe in God. You decide.
